BOTANICAL IMAGES

My first shots of flowers and seedheads were taken in gardens, until I realised that I could capture more detail in a studio, without nature's carefree breeze screwing up my carefully planned shot.

What I find amazing is the detail when you look closely - and I mean really closely - at flowers or seedheads. The intense purity of the natural colours, or the intricate detail of a petal... And scale becomes irrelevant: tiny fluffs of seed or collections of pollen take on a magnificent grandeur.
